Wandsworth buildings and what they need
The borough's core is Victorian terrace cut into flats: the Tonsleys behind the Town Hall, the roads off Old York Road, the long runs down Garratt Lane towards Earlsfield. Some of those kitchens are on the lower ground, down steep front steps, and bringing everything down those steps and back up is a job for two.
The blocks by the river work differently. Riverside Quarter and Ram Quarter sign contractors in at the concierge, the goods lift has to be booked and there is nowhere to stop at the kerb, so the kit comes in on a trolley. The ovens there are nearly all integrated singles under a worktop; we cover the worktop and need clear floor in front of the housing. If you are the agent, leave the fob at the desk and tell the concierge when we are due.
Thames Water supplies hard water here, so door glass, hob rings and extractor filters carry scale as well as grease, and the glass gets a descaling pass. Parking zones vary a lot: zone B is controlled 9am to 8pm every day and zone A3 only 9.30am to 4.30pm on weekdays, so we check yours before naming an arrival time.
